Nestled within the breathtaking Northumberland National Park, The Sill National Landscape Centre offers an immersive and educational experience for visitors of all ages. The centre serves as a gateway to the stunning landscapes and rich history of the region, inviting guests to explore and learn about the area's unique geology, ecology, and cultural heritage. The Sill boasts a range of quirky, interactive exhibits and displays that engage visitors in the stories of Northumberland's diverse landscapes, from the rolling hills and rugged coastlines to the majestic castles and ancient archaeological sites. The centre also offers various walking trails and guided tours, allowing visitors to further connect with the natural beauty and history that surrounds them. In addition to its educational offerings, The Sill features a café serving delicious, but relatively expensive,locally-sourced food, a gift shop stocked with unique souvenirs and crafts, and a rooftop walkway providing panoramic views of the breathtaking countryside.( This was closed because of the snow) With its commitment to sustainability and accessibility, The Sill National Landscape Centre is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking to deepen their understanding and appreciation of Northumberland's awe-inspiring landscapes and the rich stories they have to tell.

Informative, instructive and great views from the roof top of Hadrian's wall and surrounding countryside . Gift shop with reasonable quality wares and a nice coffee shop that also serves hot food. Also provides a base point for guided walks.

This is a great place to learn about the local area. Lovely atmosphere, nice big spaces to walk around, and a tearoom for when you're feeling peckish. A perfect little stop over if you are visiting Hadrian's Wall, and a good place to bring overseas visitors who might be interested in the area.

This is in a very very rural area, right on the wall, pretty much. There is also an excellent pub next door and the astronomy stuff can be great too. The hostel is pretty new and modern- relatively speaking, compared to when I did the Pennine way here in 2000!

Very reasonable parking and good food in the cafe. We spent a little too much in the gift shop, but well stocked with warming drinks for Christmas.

We visit for afternoon tea and to see the Sycamore Gap exhibition. The exhibition was small, only 3 or 4 exhibits, and was ultimately disappointing. There is a permanent exhibition but this didn't really capture our interest. The cafe was okay, the staff were very helpful and friendly but some items on the menu had already sold out. It's was okay but we expected more.

We went on a Quiet day, mid week, so problems. Had a walk up onto the roof.

Interesting place to visit with what is left of the Sycamore from Sycamore Gap, and photos from people who had seen it in situ. A lovely café and some great items in the shop. The environmental displays are very interesting, learning how little changes can help prevent flooding etc.

Great cafe with lovely views and fantastic food. I had a latte and corned beef and potato pie, both were excellent.
